Shares of little-known Canadian adult website startup NutBang (XXX), a penny stock, got a big boost on Thursday, after a seasoned newsletter copywriter wrote a hit bull promotion on the firm.

The only problem? The published promo was an early draft, which mistakenly included the teased stock ticker. And the ticker was a placeholder.

“I honestly had no idea what penny stock I was going to pump – I mean promote,” the copywriter told us on condition of anonymity. “I just spun up a bunch of sexy-sounding crap and figured I’d find the stock later. Then, I’d force the newsletter writer to recommend the company to subscribers, like I usually do.”

The early draft of the promotion published with a bracketed line of text that read “[Analysis for Company XXX.]”, an apparent note to refer to after the writer found a garbage microcap that was suitable for dumping on a 100,000-strong subscriber list.

Executive management at NutBang woke up to see their shares rocket from C$0.15 to C$10, an over 6,500% increase, in just one day of trading.

“It was a life-changing day for us. I honestly listed the website publicly as a joke with my friends. We don’t have any content or revenue, even a plan. Just a bunch of videos of me shoving batteries up my butt. And now we’re all millionaires.”

Subscribers of the promoted newsletter Trash Stock Zillionaire, however, were completely blown up as the insiders at NutBang quickly sold all their equity and delisted the company.

The publisher’s customer service team, apparently fed up with the careless tactics to promote their newsletters and the frequent vitriolic responses from subscribers, all quit in unison.

“You could almost call this a classic pump and dump, but this time the pump was total serendipity,” the editor-in-chief said. “Thankfully, it didn’t affect any of the partners here. We only take positions ahead of promos when we actually know what the company’s going to be.”

The copywriter was fired for his transgression. When asked what’s next for him, he shocked us with his response…

“I don’t know. I think I might start my own company, list it under “ABC” or “XYZ.” Who knows? I might get lucky like the fine folks at NutBang did.”
